AV Director, Visual Artist & Immersive Space Designer

Laura Ramírez, professionally known as Optika, is a Latin American director, producer, and visual artist specializing in live visuals, projection mapping, LED systems, and immersive fulldome experiences. Operating at the intersection of art, technology, and social activism, her practice ranges from large-scale architectural interventions to stage direction for concerts, opera, and commercial brands.

In 2007, she founded Optikal Ink Lab, an AV laboratory and label through which she develops live performances, spatial design, and media facades. She is also the founder and director of the AV Síntesis Festival (2021), a premier platform for electronic arts in Colombia. Beyond her creative output, Laura is an active international educator leading masterclasses on immersive environments, stage technologies, and real-time visual creation.

Her portfolio features high-profile projection mapping projects such as AYAWASKA at the National Museum of the Republic (Brasília), RE-FORMA at Rio Branco Palace (Salvador), and DUAL at Ibirapuera Auditorium (São Paulo). Key commercial and stage designs include Katy Perry’s VIP stage, M.I.A.’s live visual show at Estéreo Picnic, opera stagings at Teatro Colón, media facades at Colpatria Tower and SESI Gallery, the award-winning fulldome piece EQUILIBRIUM, and the Berlin Wall memorial installation at Bogotá’s Palace of Justice.

As a member of UNITED VJs, she has performed at iconic venues including REX Club (Paris), TRESOR (Berlin), AGEHA (Tokyo), and TBA Club (New York).

Her trajectory spans fulldome showcases, VJ/AV performances, workshops, and exhibitions across platforms like IMERSA (Montreal), Mapping Festival (Geneva), Visual Brasil (Barcelona), Splice Festival (London), PMAJ (Tokyo), Terang (Malaysia), LPM (Amsterdam), FILE Festival (São Paulo), and the Rio de Janeiro Art Museum.
